On December 16, reporters learned from Xi'an Customs that in the first 11 months of this year, 4,706 China-Europe freight trains (Xi'an) were operated, a 26.8% increase, ranking first in the country; the import and export volume reached 5.333 million tons and 84.68 billion yuan, respectively, up 22.9% and 6.2% year-on-year, exceeding the total for last year. Xi'an has become the first city in the country to operate more than 25,000 China-Europe freight trains cumulatively.

In recent years, Xi'an has actively grasped the functional positioning and mission of an international comprehensive transportation hub, and in accordance with the overall layout of "hub + channel + network," it has focused on building a modern comprehensive transportation system featuring "dual-port drive, high-speed integration, hub-driven, multi-network integration, green priority, and intelligent empowerment." By promoting the construction of the China-Europe freight train (Xi'an) assembly center, Xi'an has continuously improved port functions, expanded international channels, improved operational efficiency, and reduced transportation costs. It has built the country's first railway container center station with three bundles and six lines and the country's first inland automated unmanned terminal, and pioneered the opening of the trans-Caspian international transport corridor route in the country. Through the implementation of actions to improve the service capacity of land ports, it has achieved data interconnection between customs and railways, intelligent customs declaration, and circular transportation of containers, shortening the entire running time by more than one-third. The transit time of trans-Caspian freight trains has been reduced from 20 to 25 days to 12 days, and the transportation cost of China-Europe freight trains has been reduced by more than 15%.

In addition, Xi'an actively implemented the outcomes of the China-Central Asia Xi'an Summit, continuously strengthened international cooperation with Central Asian countries' transportation hubs, and promoted the transformation and upgrading from "point-to-point" to "hub-to-hub." Xi'an Free Trade Port Construction and Operation Co., Ltd. and Kazakhstan National Railway Company established a joint venture company with cross-shareholding, setting up terminals in Xi'an Chanba International Port and Almaty, Kazakhstan, sharing customer groups and logistics channels, and further reducing trade transportation costs. Currently, the China-Europe freight train (Xi'an) has opened 18 international trunk lines and 26 " + Western Europe" assembly lines, covering the entire Eurasian continent. At the same time, by accelerating the integration of high-speed rail, intercity, urban (suburban) and subway networks, the carrying capacity of Xi'an Station and Xi'an North Station has been continuously optimized and improved. In 2025, Xi'an East Station, integrating high-speed rail, conventional rail, subway, and buses, will be completed. With the accelerated construction of high-speed rail projects such as Xiyuan, Xikang, and Xishi, the outline of Shaanxi's "rice"-shaped high-speed rail network has emerged, and Xi'an's hub role in the national railway network has become more prominent.
